howdy, I hope the internet is treating you well. Just thought a holler out to all the peeps on the world wide web was in order. Whistler is HOT, so hot in fact that the record snow fall is now making all the lakes freezing cold which turns out to be bitter sweet once you get sick of sweating on the beach and decide to jump in. There is only a few more months until winter is back and rearing its ugly head. this is also an exciting time because so many new faces show up ready to have the season of their lives, if you look in a mirror and think “that looks like my face” get over to whistler and get involved. looking forward to meeting all those faces and diving head first into the community shooting our love guns in all directions. if you have any questions, call, write, come for a week and check things out.

Love Josh

weekly core-group hangout, “meetings”. This will involve a bible study, dinner or food of some form depending on the day and time, everyone’s schedule is different so it will vary week to week. discussion of life happenings, hopes/plans/dreams for next season so when winter rolls around there will be a good idea of what the structure will look like. If core involvement sounds like its up your ally, then shoot SFC Whistler an email, or hit up facebook.

There will also be a monthly get-to-gather (party). The time and place will be posted on the blog as well as on the SFC Whistler Facebook page. Check it out. Announcements will be made at both Whistler Community Church and Church On The Mountain, and don’t feel that if your over 40 and waiting for hip surgery that your too old for SFC.. we’ll help you feel young again.

Community is so important in your growth, want it, find it, invest in it. Also, total side note.. and don’t get me wrong, I love girls, it just seems lately that the ratio is very one sided so if you’ve done a YWAM DTS and didn’t get hitched, or have been through a masters degree worth of bible college and haven’t found the women of your dreams come to Whistler. I need some solid bro-dudes, if we dont get more guys SFC Whistler may start doing pedicure nights or “Do your hair Fridays”.. its a scary thought, I know.

this is what dinner at earls looked like.. 7 girls, 3 guys.. 1 of which was just visiting.

Peace and Love to y’all.

hey y’all, whats shakin? things on the whistler side of the road are pretty sweet! Some awesome events have transpired since I last wrote on the ol’ blog. Lets start with church, I, Josh Anderson, am now the church on the mountain worship leader. It doesn’t come with a pay raise or a company car but I am so excited to freely worship God with all my friends, I just pray for a little bit of rhythm. Secondly, I was blessed with a JOB! after nearly a year of ghetto living and small cash jobs here and there I am employed working towards my carpentry apprenticeship! that is a testimony in its self and my boss is a christian! just an added bonus to the blessing. The job came at a cost when a few days ago I had the opportunity to go cat-skiing and had to pass it up on one of the best days of the year, 80cms! On the plus side, the new job lets me go to whistler school during the afternoons and school has been blowing my mind week to week. If any one who reads this and wants to live in whistler, get educated in re-Shaloming the earth and want to hang out with some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met check out www.whistlerschool.com. As far as SFC goes, this little stint in whistler has probably been the most time I’ve spent in one place since i left Smithers in 2005 and its been awesome to get connected into a community and act as a hub for people to get connected and freely ask questions. thank you so much for your prayers, if you find time sling a prayer for the Treadways in pemberton as they’ve lost a close friend in a ski accident, as well as my physical health and being able to work to my fullest in my new job.

Love you guys,

also, ask yourself this.. who would you rather date, Indiana Jones? or Robin Hood?

hello friends! I hope everyone out there is doing well. not much has changed with the para-Olympics, besides the increase of wheelchairs roaming around the village. I’ve seen some very determined athletes who’ve overcome a lot to be where they are now. Sitting in the village square watching blind slalom on the giant TV they have set up there. I felt inspired by these athletes racing down between the gates putting all their trust in a brightly colored guide only a gate in front of them. For myself, living in Whistler i find myself racing through all the gates blindly trusting God to guide me through. I could probably keep the analogy rolling, but I think you catch my drift. So no matter what life throws your way, keep your partially blind sights set on your guide. Again with the analogy ha ha ha. But seriously, live life. Gods got you covered.

I’d go with butt-cheek lips.. i hate hair in my mouth.

hello friends! It is now March and the 2010 winter Olympics are over. We’ve made it, everyone is alive and well. Now it has become a game of finding a place to live, several of our dedicated SFC’ers are sleeping on couches throughout the valley. but week by week and pique by pique (the local newspaper with all the classifieds) houses and suites are opening up. I’m just praying that God will bless us again with something that will suit our needs and those of others, as well as praying for vision of what SFC will look like under the new circumstances. A few pieces of wisdom I have come upon as of late would be not playing leap frog with a unicorn.. and never pet a burning dog. But seriously folks, community is so important in life. We all have so many questions about our faith. Having people around you who in humility admit that they don’t have it all figured out along side you to discuss all your doubts and questions is amazing. So I encourage you who read this, ask your questions. Challenge God. Find people who have the same questions and seek God and find answers together.

and always, ride it like you stole it.

hey friends. hope everyone is as pumped as I am to be a Canadian watching those Olympic ceremonies. We’re pretty lucky! it was kinda funny at the end when they went to light the torch and officially start the games and there was some technical difficulties! haha the suspense was killing me! So, I hope you all made it out to the movement 2010 in Kamloops BC. If you didn’t, then you must have either been under a rock, or trapped in someones basement. It was incredible! myself and 5 others from Whistler jumped in a loungin’ dodge crew-cab, fueled up with diesel and rumbled over to Kamloops. All the bands, booths and babes were out and ready to party. Here is an honorary mention to Chamberlaindavies for putting on the best show of my life, check them out on itunes; it will rock your world. it was an amazing chance to meet people, buy discount street wear and drink redbull. Anyone and everyone went up to Sun Peaks and rode a solid day and capped it off with My Broken Hero in the mosh pit! my neck hurt for a few days after. Some friends of mine from Whistler spoke on “re-shaloming” the earth, so if you catch yourself saying “peace” to someone think about actually living peace.

And so the great migration south to Squamish for SFC whistler for the duration of the Olympics began when we got home from the movement. Our landlord was super relaxed about the whole situation, so we traded him our damage deposit in return for us to get out of the lease. weather or not that was legal I have know idea haha, but i feel like a huge burden has been lifted. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the house and it was a real blessing in our time of desperation. I feel SFC whistler needs fresh beginnings..

Ask God for provision and wisdom in finding a new place to rest out heads. Also, complete side note but; there are several teams arriving from the states of some full on ministry and if your in the squamish/pemberton/whistler area and want to get involved or live on the other side of the earth and just want to pray for the Olympics. Don’t be affraid to send me an email josh@sfcwhistler.com or call me (604) 905 8035

Live Peace, check out the pemby-vid of the Movement

hey friends, hope all is super sweet where ever you are. Here is just an update or two on the whistler side of things. The rain has been falling for a looong time and up in the alpine its been duuumping! so much snow, i dont know what to do with all of it. I went up for fresh tracks on saturday with the man the myth the legend! Tommy Hartle and ate the biggest breakfast of my life. After 3 epic runs i managed to wrap my self around a tree and break my fibula and mangle some tendons in my ankle. And after a few failed attempts of riding/sliding out under the garbonzo chair, with all the Aussies yelling smart remarks a very nice ski patrol lady told me to sit still and the sled would come and get me. a few hours later i was in the whistler medical clinic waiting room when through the window i saw my hero, Jonny Simpson ski booting his way into the clinic. He had sacrificed his day of riding 47 cm to be with me in emerge. I nearly cried.. (then i worked out and drank some beers cause im a man) besides all this, they informed me that i would need surgery the following day. So at 6am sunday morning, Mike Groot who is also legend, picked me up and we drove to the north Vancouver hospital. And after waiting 12 hours in the hospital they put me under and i woke up feeling wasted! and with 2 screws in my leg.

Now I’m home again and getting to know my bed alot better. I see this time of brokenness to really focus on what God has me here to do. So many times I feel like SFC just becomes a bunch of dudes/dudettes just going out and snowboarding which is important, but more the means to the end. I’m really praying, and so should you, that God will raise up people that are 100% committed to seeing SFC happen. With Jonny leaving myself and Calvin DeGroot will be temporarily heading up the SFC side of things and knowing people are praying for us around the world would be sweet!.. It seems like everyone who was initially committed to seeing SFC happen in whistler wants to jump ship the minute life gets difficult, and let me tell you, its been difficult. If these said people want to go, that’s awesome! we should love God and do what we want. So if your reading this and feel living in the SFC whistler house is something you could commit to through the good, bad and the ugly.. give me a shout, 1 604 905 8035 or facebook me or send a smoke signal.

Josh.
