1 half of SFC whistler will be leaving the valley for the summer to chase winter in New Zealand. I, Josh Anderson, will be staffing a ywam DTS in Oxford, New Zealand starting in June and finishing in November. it is a snow and skate focused school and will work along side SFC Christchurch with weekly outreaches. I am excited, scared, sad, happy, sad and excited to be leaving my home that I’ve made over the past few years. I got reamed out on the phone the other day for not updating the blog regularly and for that i apologize. So for the 6 months I will be visiting the shire, mordor and middle earth I will send weekly blog updates to keep ya’ll in the loop. Stay tuned, remember me in your prayers and keep your stick on the ice.

My life in a nutshelll the last 3 months has been a learning and expanding period of my life.

I left Canada to slightly escape my life and to pour all the overflowing love I have into little mexican children… or so I thought.

But really it has been and eye opening Emma Renovation! You see growing up in a socitey such as north american society,we are programed from a very young age that perfection is demanded of us and if you are not what our culture deems perfect you are not attractive.

In a womens everyday life there is 50 to 70 negative messages projected into our brains about body image and looks a day, from Barbie to commercials, magazines, models and things people say.

This has been my constant battle, my arch emisis in life, I have compared, dieted and compared and cried exercised and starved and cried and then ate ice cream sat in sweats then excersized then compared and gave up and bought strechy lulu lemons…because lets face it who doesnt look good in thoes. Ive dyed my hair more times than i could count, peirced my face more than once, and wore too much eyeliner for way to long. I’ve wished to be a different person my whole life, wanting to look like everyone but me….It has been 20 years and im still not Jessica Alba or a Victoria Secret model…SOO Its come to my attention that I need to put thoes un achievable thoughts to rest, once and for all.

My mexico game plan was been to be healthy and happy in my own skin. I took up spin class( which is deathly hard and you sweat like pig in a sauna)… running on the beach and attempting to surf which is really just me flaleing in the water and biking on the ocean pier lots!

I threw away my eyeliner and have not died my hair in a year. So to say the least im attempting at being comfortable as me… and not trying to magicaly starve myselft into jennifer aniston, it has been at times discouraging because being this active I thought I would shrink a couple sizes but this has not been the case. In this tho I have realized that im made to be curvasious and even when im healthy and active I will never be what the world says i should be. So I think what im trying to say is its taken me along time to realize that im not perfect by Hollywoods standards, and ive wasted over half my life thinking about my weight and what I look like and if other people approve of me.

But I say no more! I’m sad that ive wasted so much time caring because beauty comes from somewhere deep inside people its not in there clothes or hair or what size they are it comes from being the best person we can be.

Watching the little girls in the slums here in mexico has really made me understand all this, they run around with no shoes, tattered and dirty clothes and hair matted and laden with lice yet they are beautiful incredibley perfectly beautiful. They smile and laugh and all they want to do is hug and give love. I want that. I want to believe its easy, but its changing the way we think the way we see other women the way we see celeberties. I guess I just wanted to voice out loud that im done caring and that we all should be, because life is too short, we are all beautiful in out own ways and there is so much bigger and more important things to think about, than if im going to fit into a size 28…. and if this plan fails…guess ill just have to marry a man with chocolate skin because he wont care if i have more junk in my trunk than a honda.

So my friends be encouraged. because you are beautiful.

My name is Paulo, I’m from Brazil, I love my family and my friends, I love kids, I love snowboarding, I love being out in nature and hanging out with friends, I love Canada and want to live there and I love Brazil too. But I’m learning to love GOD and to be dependent on his love and mercy and to be passionate about Jesus and to follow him and to be like him in everything I do, above all the other things that I love and like to do.
I’ll tell a little bit of my life, straight forward, so you can get to know me and where I’m at, and how God is working his purposes and plans in my life.
I grew up in a Christian home and until my early 20’s the church was my house and I was blessed and in love with Jesus. Then I graduated and went to University and my passion about Jesus grow cold and I started to get interested about other things and Jesus became secondary in my life until the day that he wasn’t part of it at all.
I did try everything that the world can offer. I did travel, I did sports, I did drugs, I tried to be a good person, I move from time to time, but in the end I discovered that nothing could fill that empty space in my life.
I start going to church again, but still can’t feel at peace and the empty space kept growing inside of me. I get frustrated. Why Church can’t help me?
Then, I started to have a relationship with God again, and talk with him daily, and ask, and pray, and cry, and now I’m learning to live a love relationship with God and to be 1oo% dependent of him. I discovered that only with the Holy Spirit living in me and doing His work I can feel full and complete and then let Jesus reflect his light through me.

Even being in a relationship with God and being so complete the fights and problems and concerns of this life keep coming always trying to knock us out.
Recently I’m going to a really tough situation. But I know that God is in control and He is faithfull to change this situation and operate a miracle in my life and the other people involved and He is already working his plans to our lives.
I ask you all to be praying that I can keep my faith in Him and fill his purpose in my life each day.
When I don’t know what to do my faith is not in what or when but who!!!

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22,23

Peace and Love!!!

howdy partners! so 2010 is finished never to be seen again and we’re all looking forward to what 2011 is going to bring. This season – for myself – has begun rather slowly due to my absence from Whistler, but i am really pumped on all the guys who have decided to come out this year. They are all very motivated to practice community and get into the word. A tragic turn of events happened just before the Christmas break with one Calvin De Groot. He caught an edge and crushed his kidney, its a good thing he has two. Ski patrol hauled him off the mountain and they rushed him to Vancouver. Thanks to all on Calvin’s behalf for visiting him while he was in Vancouver. Whistler School started today, that is going to be a mind blowing wild ride for those who will be attending, and if you feel that you would like to be involved don’t be afraid to show up and check it out, its open to all.

So on behalf SFC whistler, we wish you the best blessed year ever.
